day 1

Arrival in Bishkek - Ala Archa Gorge

Upon arrival in Bishkek, your guide will meet you at the airport.  After a short rest at the hotel, we will visit Ala Archa National Park. The Ala Archa Gorge is located 40 km south of Bishkek in a picturesque valley, covering an area of approximately 200 km². The altitude ranges from 1500m to 4895m, with Semjonow Tien Shan Ski Peak being the highest peak in the area. After a short hike, we return to Bishkek.

In the second half of the day, we take a city tour, which includes visits to Victory Square, Dubovy Park (Oak Park), Ala-Too Square, and the National Philharmonic. Dinner at a local restaurant.

day 2

Bishkek - Karakol

After breakfast, we start our journey to Karakol. On the way, we stop at the Burana Tower, a minaret from the 11th century. During the Great Silk Road, the Burana Tower served as a landmark for travelers, indicating a resting place. Nearby, an open-air museum features Balbals (stone figures), which resemble warriors and were erected in honor of fallen soldiers.

After an informative tour and climbing the tower, we continue our journey to Issyk Kul Lake, driving along its northern shore.

day 3

Trekking Begins (Karakol - Sirota Hut, 11 km, +600 m, 5-7 hours trekking) 

After breakfast, we transfer from Karakol to the trekking starting point in Karakol Gorge. This gorge lies 9 km south of Karakol, cutting deep into the slopes of the Teskei Alatau range. Its valley slopes and riverbanks are covered with seabuckthorn, barberry, and wild roses.

As we ascend, the landscape shifts from steppe foothills to mountain forests, subalpine meadows, alpine pastures, and glaciers. At the upper part of the gorge, we reach an alpine base.

day 4

Trekking (Sirota Hut – Ala Kul Lake – Keldike Gorge, 9 km, +850 m, 5-7 hours trekking) 

After breakfast, we ascend to Ala Kul Lake (3533m), a glacial lake in the Terskey Ala-Too mountains, south of Issyk Kul. After lunch at the lake, we continue to Ala Kul Pass (3860m), offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Terskey Ala Too peaks. We then descend into Keldike Gorge.

day 5

Trekking (Keldike Gorge – Altyn Arashan Valley, 11 km, -1100 m, 3-4 hours trekking)

After breakfast, we hike to Altyn Arashan Valley, a famous hot spring area with stunning landscapes. The “Golden Springs” of Altyn Arashan attract numerous visitors with their picturesque views and natural hot springs.
Upon arrival, you can relax in the hot springs.

day 6

Trekking (Altyn Arashan - Karakol, 10 km, -450 m, 3-4 hours trekking)

After breakfast, we trek to “Lastochkino Gnezdo” (Swallow’s Nest). After 3-4 hours, we descend by car to Karakol. The road from Altyn Arashan to Karakol is unpaved, requiring a vehicle with good tires for safe transport.
After arrival and rest at the hotel, if time allows, we visit two key sights in Karakol:

  1. Dungan Mosque – A unique Chinese-style mosque, built without nails.
  2. Holy Trinity Church – A wooden Orthodox church with rich history.
Dinner at a local restaurant.

🟢 Moderate to Challenging Trek – Daily trekking distances range from 9 to 11 km, with elevation gains up to +850m, up to 3800m above sea level.

🟢 Natural Hot Springs – Relax in the thermal waters of Altyn Arashan after days of trekking.

Weather in Kyrgyzstan The climate is continental, with cold winters and hot summers. The best time for trekking is from mid-June to late September, though weather conditions can be unpredictable.

Visa & Passport Requirements Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months after your departure date.

Health & Vaccinations Recommended vaccinations: Hepatitis A, polio, tetanus, diphtheria, and typhoid. A rabies vaccine may be advised for long stays.

Currency & Payments The local currency is the Kyrgyz Som (KGS). ATMs and exchange offices are available in major cities. Banks, hotels, as a rule, accept Visa card, MasterCard. Tipping is customary for guides and drivers.

Accommodation & Logistics Accommodations range from hotels to yurts and camping. Participants are responsible for assembling and dismantling their tents.

Packing List Clothing: Waterproof jacket, thermal wear, gloves, hiking boots, sleeping bag (-8°C).

Gear: Flashlight, sunscreen, sunglasses, trekking poles.

Personal Items: First-aid kit, toiletries, copies of important documents.
